Nabi mengampuni Hathib meskipun berkhianat membocorkan rencana Nabi kepada musyrikin karena menghargai peserta perang Badar
Imam Bukhari : 2851حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَكَانَ عُثْمَانِيًّا فَقَالَ لِابْنِ عَطِيَّةَ وَكَانَ عَلَوِيًّا إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ مَا الَّذِي جَرَّأَ صَاحِبَكَ عَلَى الدِّمَاءِ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُبَعَثَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالزُّبَيْرَ فَقَالَ ائْتُوا رَوْضَةَ كَذَا وَتَجِدُونَ بِهَا امْرَأَةً أَعْطَاهَا حَاطِبٌ كِتَابًا فَأَتَيْنَا الرَّوْضَةَ فَقُلْنَا الْكِتَابَ قَالَتْ لَمْ يُعْطِنِي فَقُلْنَا لَتُخْرِجِنَّ أَوْ لَأُجَرِّدَنَّكِ فَأَخْرَجَتْ مِنْ حُجْزَتِهَا فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى حَاطِبٍ فَقَالَ لَا تَعْجَلْ وَاللَّهِ مَا كَفَرْتُ وَلَا ازْدَدْتُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ إِلَّا حُبًّا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ إِلَّا وَلَهُ بِمَكَّةَ مَنْ يَدْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لِي أَحَدٌ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَتَّخِذَ عِنْدَهُمْ يَدًا فَصَدَّقَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عُمَرُ دَعْنِي أَضْرِبْ عُنُقَهُ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ نَافَقَ فَقَالَ مَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ اطَّلَعَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ فَقَالَ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ فَهَذَا الَّذِي جَرَّأَهُ
"Narrated to me [Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Hawsyab ath-Tha'iy] narrated to us [Husyaim] informed us [Hushain] from [Sa'ad bin 'Ubaidah] from [Abu Abdur Rahman], a supporter of 'Utsman over 'Ali, Sa'dto Ibnu 'Athiyah, a supporter of 'Ali over 'Utsman: 'I know best what made your companion bold in matters of bloodshed. I heard him say: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me with Az Zubair, saying, "Go to Raudhah?or in another narration, Raudhah Khah?and find a woman there carrying a letter from Hathib." We went to the Raudhah and Sa'd "Where is the letter?" She Sa'd "I have no letter." We Sa'd "You will produce it, or we will strip you." She took it from her waistband?or in another narration, her hair bun?and we brought it to Hathib. Hathib Sa'd "Do not rush to judge me. I did not do this out of disbelief; my love for Islam has only grown. Every companion of the Prophet has someone in Makkah to protect their family and property, but I had none. I wanted to secure a protector among them." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted his explanation. 'Umar Sa'd "Let me behead this hypocrite." The Prophet Sa'd "How do you know? Perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr and Sa'd 'Do as you wish, for I have forgiven you.'" [Abu Abdur Rahman] Sa'd "That is what made him bold."'
