حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ قَالَ لَهُ سَلْ لِي عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُهِلُّ بِالْحَجِّ فَإِذَا طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ أَيَحِلُّ أَمْ لَا فَإِنْ قَالَ لَكَ لَا يَحِلُّ فَقُلْ لَهُ إِنَّ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِالْحَجِّ إِلَّا بِالْحَجِّ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ بِئْسَ مَا قَالَ فَتَصَدَّانِي الرَّجُلُ فَسَأَلَنِي فَحَدَّثْتُهُ فَقَالَ فَقُلْ لَهُ فَإِنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يُخْبِرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ وَمَا شَأْنُ أَسْمَاءَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ قَدْ فَعَلَا ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَجِئْتُهُ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا فَقُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَمَا بَالُهُ لَا يَأْتِينِي بِنَفْسِهِ يَسْأَلُنِي أَظُنُّهُ عِرَاقِيًّا قُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ كَذَبَ قَدْ حَجَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ حِينَ قَدِمَ مَكَّةَ أَنَّهُ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ حَجَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ حَجَّ عُثْمَانُ فَرَأَيْتُهُ أَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ حَجَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ بَدَأَ بِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارَ يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ ثُمَّ آخِرُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْقُضْهَا بِعُمْرَةٍ وَهَذَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ عِنْدَهُمْ أَفَلَا يَسْأَلُونَهُ وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ مَضَى مَا كَانُوا يَبْدَءُونَ بِشَيْءٍ حِينَ يَضَعُونَ أَقْدَامَهُمْ أَوَّلَ مِنْ الطَّوَافِ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ لَا يَحِلُّونَ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أُمِّي وَخَالَتِي حِينَ تَقْدَمَانِ لَا تَبْدَأَانِ بِشَيْءٍ أَوَّلَ مِنْ الْبَيْتِ تَطُوفَانِ بِهِ ثُمَّ لَا تَحِلَّانِ وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمِّي أَنَّهَا أَقْبَلَتْ هِيَ وَأُخْتُهَا وَالزُّبَيْرُ وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَطُّ فَلَمَّا مَسَحُوا الرُّكْنَ حَلُّوا وَقَدْ كَذَبَ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ

"Narrated to me Harun bin Sa'id Al Aili, narrated to us Ibn Wahb, informed me Amru bin Al Harits from Muhammad bin Abdurrahman that a man from the people of Iraq said to him, 'Ask Urwah bin Zubair for me about a man who entered ihram for Hajj. After circumambulating the Kaaba, may he release ihram or not? If he says it is permissible, tell him that someone else said the same.' Muhammad bin Abdurrahman said: So I asked Urwah, and he replied, 'It is not permissible to release ihram for someone who entered ihram for Hajj except with Hajj.' I said, 'Indeed, someone permitted it.' Urwah said, 'How bad is what he said.' Then the man detained me, so I conveyed it to him. The man said, 'Tell him that someone who permitted it narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did so, and what about Asma' and Zubair who also did it?' So I went to Urwah and conveyed it to him, but he asked, 'Who is this person, why doesn’t he come himself to ask? I suspect he is an Iraqi.' I replied, 'I don’t know.' Urwah said, 'Indeed, he has lied. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed Hajj. Aishah informed me that the first thing he did upon arriving in Mecca was perform wudu, then circumambulate the Kaaba. Abu Bakr performed Hajj, and the first thing he did was circumambulate the Kaaba, not otherwise. Umar did the same. Then Uthman performed Hajj, and I saw the first thing he did was circumambulate the Kaaba, not otherwise. Then Mu'awiyah and Abdullah bin Umar. I also performed Hajj with Abu Zubair bin Al Awwam, and the first thing he did was circumambulate the Kaaba, not otherwise. I saw the Muhajirin and Ansar do the same, not otherwise. The last I saw was Ibn Umar, and he never replaced it with Umrah. Now Ibn Umar is among them, so why don’t they ask him? Not one of those who preceded us failed to start with circumambulating the Kaaba upon arriving in Mecca. After that, they did not release ihram. Indeed, I saw my mother and aunt when they arrived in Mecca; they did not start with any ritual at the Kaaba except circumambulating the Kaaba, then they did not release ihram. My mother informed me that she, her sister, Zubair, so-and-so, and so-and-so performed Umrah, and when they touched the corner, they released ihram. Indeed, that Iraqi lied about what he said.'
