Imam Bukhari : 527حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّقَالَ قَدِمَ الْحَجَّاجُ فَسَأَلْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ بِالْهَاجِرَةِ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ نَقِيَّةٌ وَالْمَغْرِبَ إِذَا وَجَبَتْ وَالْعِشَاءَ أَحْيَانًا وَأَحْيَانًا إِذَا رَآهُمْ اجْتَمَعُوا عَجَّلَ وَإِذَا رَآهُمْ أَبْطَوْا أَخَّرَ وَالصُّبْحَ كَانُوا أَوْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّيهَا بِغَلَسٍ
Narrated to us Muhammad bin Basysyar, he Sa'd narrated to us Muhammad bin Ja'far, he Sa'd narrated to us Syu'bah from Sa'ad bin Ibrahim from Muhammad bin 'Amru bin Al Hasan bin 'Ali, he Sa'd 'Al Hajjaj delayed the prayer, so we asked Jabir bin 'Abdullah. He replied, "The Prophet, peace be upon him, performed the Dhuhr prayer when the sun had tilted, the Asr prayer when the sun's rays were still hot, the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set, and the Isha prayer sometimes depended on the congregation; if he saw them gathered, he hastened it, and if they were delayed, he postponed it. As for the Subuh prayer, they or he performed it when it was still dark in the morning.'
