Imam Bukhari : 532حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو هُوَ ابْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ سَأَلْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِعَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ بِالْهَاجِرَةِ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ حَيَّةٌ وَالْمَغْرِبَ إِذَا وَجَبَتْ وَالْعِشَاءَ إِذَا كَثُرَ النَّاسُ عَجَّلَ وَإِذَا قَلُّوا أَخَّرَ وَالصُّبْحَ بِغَلَسٍ
Narrated to us Muslim bin Ibrahim, he Sa'd narrated to us Syu'bah from Sa'dbin Ibrahim from Muhammad bin 'Amru, that is Ibnu Al Hasan bin 'Ali, he Sa'd 'We asked Jabir bin 'Abdullah about the Prophet?s prayer, peace be upon him. He replied, "He performed the Dhuhr prayer when the sun had tilted, the Asr prayer when the sun was still hot, the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set, and the Isha prayer; if people had gathered, he hastened it, and if they were few, he delayed it. The Subuh prayer was performed when it was still dark in the morning.'
