Beliau meminta Abu Bakar ash-Shiddiq untuk menjadi imam shalat menggantikannya
Imam Tirmidzi : 3605حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِذَا قَامَ مَقَامَكَ لَمْ يُسْمِعْ النَّاسَ مِنْ الْبُكَاءِ فَأْمُرْ عُمَرَ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ لِحَفْصَةَ قُولِي لَهُ إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِذَا قَامَ مَقَامَكَ لَمْ يُسْمِعْ النَّاسَ مِنْ الْبُكَاءِ فَأْمُرْ عُمَرَ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ فَفَعَلَتْ حَفْصَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّكُنَّ لَأَنْتُنَّ صَوَاحِبَاتُ يُوسُفَ مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ فَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ لِعَائِشَةَ مَا كُنْتُ لِأُصِيبَ مِنْكِ خَيْرًا قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَأَبِي مُوسَى وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَسَالِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ
Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Musa Al Anshari], narrated to us [Ma'n], narrated to us [Malik bin Anas] from [Hisyam bin 'Urwah] from [his father] from [Aisyah] that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Order Abu Bakar to (lead prayer) with the people." Then Aisyah said: "O Messenger of Allah indeed if Abu Bakar leads the people, they will not hear (his words) because of his crying, therefore order Umar to lead the people." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Order Abu Bakar to lead the people." Aisyah said: then I said to Hafshah: "Tell him, indeed if Abu Bakar leads the people, they will not hear him because of his crying, so order Umar to lead the people." then Hafshah did it, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed you are like the companions of Yusuf, order Abu Bakar to lead the people." then Hafshah said to Aisyah: "Indeed I did not get any good from you at all." Abu Isa said: "This hadith is hasan sahih, and in this chapter, there is also narration from Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Abu Musa, Ibnu Abbas, Salim bin 'Ubaidillah and Abdullah bin Zam'ah."
