Imam Muslim : 4249و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ كَالْمُوَدِّعِ لِلْأَحْيَاءِ وَالْأَمْوَاتِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطُكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَإِنَّ عَرْضَهُ كَمَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ إِلَى الْجُحْفَةِ إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا وَتَقْتَتِلُوا فَتَهْلِكُوا كَمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ قَالَ عُقْبَةُ فَكَانَتْ آخِرَ مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ
And narrated to us [Muhammad bin Al Mutsanna] Narrated to us [Wahab], that is Ibnu Jarir Narrated to us [my father], he said: I heard [Yahya bin Ayyub] narrate from [Yazid bin Abu Habib] from [Martsad] from ['Uqbah bin 'Amir, may Allah be pleased with him], the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, spoke about the martyrs of Uhud. He ascended the pulpit as if giving a testament to the living and the martyred. He said: 'I will precede you to the basin. The basin’s width is as far as between Ailah and Juhfah. I am not worried that you will return to polytheism after me. But I fear you will be swayed by the world, competing for it, then killing each other, and perishing like the nations before you.' Uqbah said: 'That was the last time I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, speak from the pulpit.'
