Narrated to us [Yahya bin Sa'id] Narrated to us [Ibnu Ajlan] Narrated to us [Ali bin Yahya bin Khallad] from [his father] from [his uncle] and he had witnessed the battle of Badar, he said: We were once with the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him inside the Mosque. Then a man entered and performed Shalat (rthatal prayer) at the side of the Mosque. So the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him looked at him briefly. Then the man approached him and gave greetings of peace. He then replied to his greeting and said: "Return and perform Shalat, because verily you have not yet performed Shalat." He repeated it as many as two or three times. Then the man said on the third or fourth time, "By the One who has sent you with the truth, truly, I have tried as hard as I can. Therefore, teach and show (the correct Shalat) to me." So the Prophet Peace be upon him said: "If you intend to perform Shalat, then perform Wudhu (rthatal ablution) and perfect your Wudhu. Then you face the Kiblat (direction of the Kaaba) and perform Takbir (saying Allahu Akbar) then read (something from the verses of the Qur'an). After that, perform Ruku' (bowing), until you are calm in the position of Ruku'. Then lift your head, until you are calm in the position of standing. And after that, you perform Sujud (prostration) until you are calm in the position of Sujud, then lift your head until you are calm in the position of sitting. Then you perform Sujud again, until you are calm in the position of Sujud, then stand up. If you complete your Shalat like this, then truly, you have completed it, and if you reduce a little from it, then verily you only reduce your Shalat.
