Narrated to us [Yusuf bin Hammad Al Bashri], narrated to us [Abdul A'la bin Abdul A'la] from [Sa'id] from [Qatadah] from [Anas] that there was a man who was weak in his contracts but he engaged in buying and selling, so his family came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: O Messenger of Allah, restrain him (from trading), so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, called him and forbade him (from trading), the man said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed I cannot restrain (myself) from trading, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If you trade, then say: (Here it is) this and this, no deception." Abu Isa said: And similar to this is the hadith narrated from Ibnu Umar. And the hadith of Anas is hasan sahih gharib, and this hadith is acted upon according to some scholars, and they said: Restraining and managing a free person if he is weak-minded is permissible, this is the opinion of Ahmad and Ishaq, however some of them did not hold it permissible to restrain and manage a free and mature person."
