أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَوْتَرَ بِتِسْعِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَمْ يَقْعُدْ إِلَّا فِي الثَّامِنَةِ فَيَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ وَيَذْكُرُهُ وَيَدْعُو ثُمَّ يَنْهَضُ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي التَّاسِعَةَ فَيَجْلِسُ فَيَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَدْعُو ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ تَسْلِيمَةً يُسْمِعُنَا ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فَلَمَّا كَبِرَ وَضَعُفَ أَوْتَرَ بِسَبْعِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يَقْعُدُ إِلَّا فِي السَّادِسَةِ ثُمَّ يَنْهَضُ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ فَيُصَلِّي السَّابِعَةَ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ تَسْلِيمَةً ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ
Narrated to us [Zakaria bin Yahya] he said :Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] he said :Narrated to us [Mu'adz bin Hisham] he said : [my father] has told me from [Qatadah] from [Zurarah bin Aufa] from [Sa'd bin Hisham] from ['Aisyah] he said : "When Rasulullah peace be upon him prayed the witr prayer of nine rak'ahs, he did it without sitting, except in the eighth rak'ah. Then he praised Allah, made dhikr and prayed to Him. Then he got up again without greeting (in the eighth rak'ah). Then prayed the ninth rak'ah, then sat down and dhikr of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. After that he prayed and said a greeting that we could hear. Then he prayed two rak'ahs while sitting. After he was old and weak, he prayed seven rak'ahs of witr, he did not sit down except for the sixth rak'ah, then he got up again and did not say the greeting to continue the seventh rak'ah. After that he prayed two rak'ahs while sitting."
