Imam Ahmad : 10535حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ لَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْفَقْرَ وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ التَّكَاثُرَ وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْعَمْدَ
Narrated to us [Katsir] said: Narrated to us [Ja'far] said: I heard [Yazid bin Al Asham] say: [Abu Hurairah] explained: In a hadith that I think was Narrated to the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him, he said: "It is not what is called being rich that is having lots of wealth, but being rich is having a rich heart. By Allah, I am not afraid of poverty hitting you, but what I am afraid of is abundant wealth and your dependence.
