Imam Bukhari : 5762حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شَقِيقٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَكُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللَّهِ قَبْلَ عِبَادِهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ السَّلَامُ عَلَى مِيكَائِيلَ السَّلَامُ عَلَى فُلَانٍ وَفُلَانٍ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَقُلْ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ أَصَابَ كُلَّ عَبْدٍ صَالِحٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ يَتَخَيَّرْ بَعْدُ مِنْ الْكَلَامِ مَا شَاءَ
"Narrated to us [Umar bin Hafsh] narrated to us [my father] narrated to us [Al A'masy] he said narrated to me [Syaqiq] from [Abdullah] he said: 'When we prayed behind the Prophet peace be upon him, we said: "Peace be upon Allah before His servants, peace be upon Jibril, peace be upon Mika'il, peace be upon so-and-so and so-and-so." When the Prophet peace be upon him finished praying, he turned his face to us and said: "Indeed, Allah is As-Salam. When one of you sits in prayer (for tashahhud), let him say: 'All compliments, prayers, and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy and blessings of Allah. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.' For if he says this, it encompasses every righteous servant in the heavens and the earth. Then say: 'I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' After that, he may choose any supplication he wishes.'
