Narrated to us by [Qutaibah bin Sa'id] that [Laith] narrated to us who said, --Through another chain-- Narrated to us by [Ibn Rumh] that [al-Laith] informed us from [Abu az-Zubair] from [Jabir] that he said, 'Mu'adh bin Jabal al-Ansari led Isha prayer for his companions, then he prolonged his recitation over them, so a man from among us turned away, then prayed alone. Then Mu'adh was informed about him, so he said, 'He is a hypocrite.' When that reached the man, he visited the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and informed him of what Mu'adh said. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him, 'Do you want to be a tempter (who makes others flee from religion) O Mu'adh? If you lead people, then recite Surah By the sun and its brightness, Glorify the name of your Lord the Most High, and Read in the name of your Lord, and By the night when it covers'.
