Narrated to us [Yahya bin Musa], he said: narrated to us [Abdurrazaq], he said: informed us [Ibnu Juraij], he said: informed me [Abu Az Zubair] that he heard [Thawus] say: "We asked [Ibnu Abbas] about sitting Al Iq'a (sitting on the buttocks with thighs and calves erect) on the two palms?" then he answered, "It is sunnah." Then we said: "Indeed, such a posture we consider harsh for a man," he answered, "Rather, it is the sunnah of your prophet, peace and blessings be upon him." He said: "In this chapter there are also narrations from Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Abu Darda, Ibnu Abbas, Mu'adz bin Anas, and Jabir." Abu Isa said: "This hadith is hasan sahih. Some scholars from the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, hold to this hadith, they view that sitting iq'a is permissible. This opinion is taken by some people of Makkah from the fiqh scholars and scholars. He said: "However, most scholars dislike sitting iq'a` between the two prostrations."
