حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا بُرَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَلَغَنَا مَخْرَجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ بِالْيَمَنِ فَخَرَجْنَا مُهَاجِرِينَ إِلَيْهِ أَنَا وَأَخَوَانِ لِي أَنَا أَصْغَرُهُمْ أَحَدُهُمَا أَبُو بُرْدَةَ وَالْآخَرُ أَبُو رُهْمٍ إِمَّا قَالَ بِضْعٌ وَإِمَّا قَالَ فِي ثَلَاثَةٍ وَخَمْسِينَ أَوْ اثْنَيْنِ وَخَمْسِينَ رَجُلًا مِنْ قَوْمِي فَرَكِبْنَا سَفِينَةً فَأَلْقَتْنَا سَفِينَتُنَا إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ بِالْحَبَشَةِ فَوَافَقْنَا جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَأَقَمْنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا جَمِيعًا فَوَافَقْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ افْتَتَحَ خَيْبَرَ وَكَانَ أُنَاسٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ يَقُولُونَ لَنَا يَعْنِي لِأَهْلِ السَّفِينَةِ سَبَقْنَاكُمْ بِالْهِجْرَةِ وَدَخَلَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ وَهِيَ مِمَّنْ قَدِمَ مَعَنَا عَلَى حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَائِرَةً وَقَدْ كَانَتْ هَاجَرَتْ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ فِيمَنْ هَاجَرَ فَدَخَلَ عُمَرُ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ وَأَسْمَاءُ عِنْدَهَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ حِينَ رَأَى أَسْمَاءَ مَنْ هَذِهِ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ قَالَ عُمَرُ الْحَبَشِيَّةُ هَذِهِ الْبَحْرِيَّةُ هَذِهِ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ نَعَمْ قَالَ سَبَقْنَاكُمْ بِالْهِجْرَةِ فَنَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْكُمْ فَغَضِبَتْ وَقَالَتْ كَلَّا وَاللَّهِ كُنْتُمْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُطْعِمُ جَائِعَكُمْ وَيَعِظُ جَاهِلَكُمْ وَكُنَّا فِي دَارِ أَوْ فِي أَرْضِ الْبُعَدَاءِ الْبُغَضَاءِ بِالْحَبَشَةِ وَذَلِكَ فِي اللَّهِ وَفِي رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَا أَطْعَمُ طَعَامًا وَلَا أَشْرَبُ شَرَابًا حَتَّى أَذْكُرَ مَا قُلْتَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ كُنَّا نُؤْذَى وَنُخَافُ وَسَأَذْكُرُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَسْأَلُهُ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَكْذِبُ وَلَا أَزِيغُ وَلَا أَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ فَمَا قُلْتِ لَهُ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ لَهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ لَيْسَ بِأَحَقَّ بِي مِنْكُمْ وَلَهُ وَلِأَصْحَابِهِ هِجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ وَلَكُمْ أَنْتُمْ أَهْلَ السَّفِينَةِ هِجْرَتَانِ قَالَتْ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا مُوسَى وَأَصْحَابَ السَّفِينَةِ يَأْتُونِي أَرْسَالًا يَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ مَا مِنْ الدُّنْيَا شَيْءٌ هُمْ بِهِ أَفْرَحُ وَلَا أَعْظَمُ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ مِمَّا قَالَ لَهُمْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا مُوسَى وَإِنَّهُ لَيَسْتَعِيدُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنِّي

"Narrated to me Muhammad bin Al-'Ala', narrated to us Abu Usamah, narrated to us Buraid bin Abdullah from Abu Burdah from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: We heard of the Prophet's peace be upon him departure while we were in Yemen, so we set out to migrate to him, myself and my two brothers, I being the youngest. One was Abu Burdah, and the other Abu Ruhm, either he said a few or he said fifty-three or fifty-two men from my people. We boarded a ship, and it took us to the Negus in Abyssinia. There we met Ja'far bin Abi Talib and stayed with him until we arrived together. We met the Prophet peace be upon him when he had conquered Khaibar. Some people said to us, meaning the people of the ship, 'We preceded you in migration.' Asma' bint 'Umais, who was among those who came with us, visited Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet peace be upon him, having migrated to the Negus with those who migrated. Umar came to Hafsah while Asma' was with her and said upon seeing Asma', 'Who is this?' She said, 'Asma' bint 'Umais.' Umar said, 'This Abyssinian, this seafarer?' Asma' replied, 'Yes.' Umar said, 'We preceded you in migration, so we have more right to the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him than you.' She became angry and said, 'No, by Allah, you were with the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, who fed your hungry and advised your ignorant, while we were in a distant, hostile land in Abyssinia for the sake of Allah and His Messenger peace be upon him. By Allah, I will neither eat food nor drink water until I mention what you said to the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him. We were persecuted and afraid, and I will mention this to the Prophet peace be upon him and ask him. By Allah, I will not lie, deviate, or add to it.' When the Prophet peace be upon him came, she said, 'O Prophet of Allah, Umar said such and such.' He said, 'What did you say to him?' She said, 'I said such and such.' He said, 'He is not more entitled to me than you. He and his companions have one migration, while you, the people of the ship, have two migrations.' She said, 'I saw Abu Musa and the people of the ship coming to me in groups, asking me about this hadith. Nothing in the world made them happier or greater in their eyes than what the Prophet peace be upon him said to them.' Abu Burdah said, Asma' said, 'I saw Abu Musa repeatedly asking me to repeat this hadith.'
