Narrated to us 'Abdullah bin Yusuf, informed us Malik, from Sumayy, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'While a man was walking, he felt intense thirst, so he descended into a well and drank from it. When he came out, he saw a dog panting, eating the dirt from thirst. He said: "This dog is as thirsty as I was." So he filled his shoe, held it in his mouth, climbed up, and gave the dog water. Allah was grateful to him and forgave him.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there a reward for us in animals?' He said: 'For every living creature, there is a reward.' Followed by Hammad bin Salamah and Ar-Rabi' bin Muslim, from Muhammad bin Ziyad.
