Narrated to us [Qutaibah] has told us [Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad] from [Al Ala bin Abdurrahman] from [his father] from [Abu Hurairah] Rasulullah peace be upon him said: "Allah gathered people on the Day of Resurrection in one field then He came to them, he said: Remember, every human being follows what he has worshipped. Then the worshipers of the cross are shown the incarnation of the cross, the worshipers the statue was shown the incarnation of the statue and the worshipers of fire were shown the incarnation of fire then they followed what they had once worshiped and the Muslims remained, after that the Rabb of the worlds came to them, He asked: Do you not follow them? They said: We seek refuge in Allah from you, we seek refuge in Allah from you, our Lord this is our place until we see our Lord and strengthen them then they hid, after that they came and asked: Do you not follow them? Allah is from you, we seek refuge in Allah from you, Our Lord is our abode until we see our Lord. He commands them and establishes them." They asked: Do we see Him, O Messenger of Allah? He asked in return: "Do you have difficulty seeing the moon on a full moon night?" They replied: No, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "Indeed you had no difficulty seeing Him at that time. After that He hid and then appeared and He introduced Himself to them, HE said: I am your Rabb, follow me. The Muslims stood up, then the shirath was placed, they crossed it like the best horses and riders, their words when they were on the shirath: Save, save. After that the only people left were the inhabitants of hell, among them a large group was thrown into hell, after that hell was asked: Are you full? Hell answered: Are there any others? After that the remaining inhabitants of hell, among them a large group were thrown into hell, after that hell was asked: Are you full? dragged then erected on a fortress between the inhabitants of heaven and the inhabitants of Hell, after which it will be said to the inhabitants of Paradise: O inhabitants of Paradise! They look in fear. And it will be said to the inhabitants of Hell: O inhabitants of Hell! They look in joy, hoping for intercession. Then it will be said to the inhabitants of Paradise and the inhabitants of Hell: Do you know this? They will say: We know, it is death that has been given to us. He will be laid down and slaughtered on a rampart between Paradise and Hell, after which it will be said: O inhabitants of Paradise, now has come the time of eternity, there will be no more death, and O inhabitants of Hell, you too will be eternal, there will be no more death." Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih. And there are many similar narrations narrated from the Prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam that do not mention that people see their Lord, do not mention the coming of the Lord and similar things. The correct school of thought regarding this matter is according to scientific scholars from among the imams such as Sufyan Ats Tsauri, Malik bin Anas, Ibn Al Mubarak, Ibnu Uyainah, Waki' and others that they (in the afterlife) saw these things. They said: These hadiths were narrated and we believe in them, without asking how (technically). This is the school of thought chosen by hadith experts; those things will appear as mentioned in the hadith and as believed, not interpreted, suspected and asked how. This is the view of scientific scholars that they chose and put forward. The meaning of the words of the Prophet peace be upon him : "Then introduced Himself to them" means appearing to them.
