أَخْبَرَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ أَنَّ الزُّهْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ أَنَّ عَمَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْتَاعَ فَرَسًا مِنْ أَعْرَابِيٍّ وَاسْتَتْبَعَهُ لِيَقْبِضَ ثَمَنَ فَرَسِهِ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبْطَأَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ وَطَفِقَ الرِّجَالُ يَتَعَرَّضُونَ لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ فَيَسُومُونَهُ بِالْفَرَسِ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْتَاعَهُ حَتَّى زَادَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي السَّوْمِ عَلَى مَا ابْتَاعَهُ بِهِ مِنْهُ فَنَادَى الْأَعْرَابِيُّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنْتَ مُبْتَاعًا هَذَا الْفَرَسَ وَإِلَّا بِعْتُهُ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ سَمِعَ نِدَاءَهُ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ ابْتَعْتُهُ مِنْكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا بِعْتُكَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ ابْتَعْتُهُ مِنْكَ فَطَفِقَ النَّاسُ يَلُوذُونَ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِالْأَعْرَابِيِّ وَهُمَا يَتَرَاجَعَانِ وَطَفِقَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ يَقُولُ هَلُمَّ شَاهِدًا يَشْهَدُ أَنِّي قَدْ بِعْتُكَهُ قَالَ خُزَيْمَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ أَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بِعْتَهُ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى خُزَيْمَةَ فَقَالَ لِمَ تَشْهَدُ قَالَ بِتَصْدِيقِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهَادَةَ خُزَيْمَةَ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ

Narrated to us [Al Haitsam bin Marwan bin Imran], he said : has told us [Muhammad bin Bakkar], he said : has related to us [Yahya i.e. Ibn Hamzah] from [Az Zubaidi] that [Az Zuhri] has informed him from ['Umarah bin Khuzaimah] that [his uncle] said to him who was one of the companions of the Prophet peace be upon him has told him that the Prophet peace be upon him bought a horse from a bedouin and he followed him to take the money, then the Prophet peace be upon him hastened his walk while the bedouin slowed down his walk, then people began to approach the bedouin and bargain for it, they did not know that the Prophet peace be upon him had bought it until one of them increased the price beyond what he had bought it for, then the bedouin called the Prophet peace be upon him and said will you buy my horse if not then I will sell it, the Prophet peace be upon him stood up as soon as he heard the bedouin's call, he said: "Did I not buy it from you?" He answered no, by Allah I did not sell it to you, then the Prophet peace be upon him said: "I have bought it from you," then people began to gather around the Prophet peace be upon him and the Bedouin, then they both returned, the bedouin said bring a witness that I have sold it to you, Khuzaimah bin Tasbit said I testify that you have sold it, then the Prophet peace be upon him accepted the testimony Kuzaimah and said: "Because of what you are testifying," he said, believing you, O Messenger of Allah, he said then the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him made Khuzaimah's testimony with two witnesses.
