Narrated to us [Ali bin Hujr], narrated to us [Isa bin Yunus] from [Hisyam bin Hasan] from [Muhammad bin Sirin] from [Abu Hurairah] that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever vomits, then it is not obligatory for him to qadla' his fast, but for whoever vomits intentionally, then it is obligatory for him to qadla' his fast." (Narrator) said, in this chapter (there is also narration -pent) from Abu Darda', Tsauban and Fadlalah bin 'Ubaid. Abu 'Isa said, the hadith of Abu Hurairah is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know the hadith from the narration of Hisyam from Ibnu Sirin from Abu Hurairah from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, except from the narration of 'Isa bin Yunus. Muhammad said, in my opinion this hadith is not mahfuzh. Abu 'Isa said, this hadith has been narrated through many paths, but none is sahih. It has also been narrated from Abu Darda', Tsauban and Fadlalah bin 'Ubaid that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, once vomited then broke, as for the meaning of this hadith is the Prophet vomited while fasting tathawwu' (sunnah) he felt weak then broke, the meaning of this hadith as mentioned in another narration along with its interpretation. The scholars also practice this hadith by taking the legal conclusion, that a person who fasts then vomits, then he is not obliged to qadla', but if he vomits intentionally, then he is obliged to qadla' his fast. Among the scholars who hold like this are Sufyan Ats Tsauri, Syafi'i, Ahmad and Ishaq.
