Sesungguhnya kucing tidaklah najis, ia binatang yang selalu mengelilingi kalian

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدَةَ ابْنَةِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ كَبْشَةَ بِنْتِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ ابْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَسَكَبَتْ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ فَجَاءَتْ هِرَّةٌ تَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ فَأَصْغَى لَهَا الْإِنَاءَ حَتَّى شَرِبَتْ قَالَتْ كَبْشَةُ فَرَآنِي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَتَعْجَبِينَ يَا بِنْتَ أَخِي قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِنَجَسٍ إِنَّهَا مِنْ الطَّوَّافِينَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَالطَّوَّافَاتِ وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَوْ الطَّوَّافَاتِ

Abu 'Abdullah said: I read in the presence of ['Abdur Rahman]; [Malik]. And [Ishaq bin 'Isa] Narrated to us, he said, has informed me [Malik] from [Ishaq bin 'Abdullah bin Abu Tholhah] from [Humaidah bint 'Ubaid bin Rifa'ah] from [Kabsyah bint Ka'ab bin Malik], - said Ishaq in his hadith and Kabsyah was the wife of Abu Qatadah's son - that Abu Qatadah visited his residence then Kabsyah poured ablution water for him. Suddenly a cat came and drank it then Abu Qatadah tilted the vessel until the cat drank. Kabsyah said: I saw it. Abu Qatadah said: Are you surprised, O my nephew? Kabsyah said: Yes. [Abu Qatadah] said: Indeed, the Prophet Peace be upon him said: "Cats are not unclean, they are just animals that like to roam and pace among you." Ishaq said: Or those who like to go here and there.
