Imam Ahmad : 3776حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ وَأَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ فَقَالَ الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَوْ اسْتَزَدْتُ لَزَادَنِي قَالَ حُسَيْنٌ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ
Narrated to us that [Yahya bin Adam] and [Husain bin Muhammad] both said : Having related to us [Isra`il] from [Abu Ishaq] from [Abu Al Ahwash] and [Abu Ubaidah] from [Abdullah] he said : I asked Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam; What is the most afdlal practice? He answered: "Pray on time, be devoted to your parents and strive for jihad fi sabilillah." If I ask for more, of course he will add it. Husain said : I asked him for more.
