Imam Bukhari : 2334حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي مُرَاوِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ إِيمَانٌ بِاللَّهِ وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ قُلْتُ فَأَيُّ الرِّقَابِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ أَعْلَاهَا ثَمَنًا وَأَنْفَسُهَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِهَا قُلْتُ فَإِنْ لَمْ أَفْعَلْ قَالَ تُعِينُ ضَايِعًا أَوْ تَصْنَعُ لِأَخْرَقَ قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ أَفْعَلْ قَالَ تَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ الشَّرِّ فَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ تَصَدَّقُ بِهَا عَلَى نَفْسِكَ
Narrated to us Ubaidullah bin Musa, from Hisham bin Urwah, from his father, from Abu Murawih, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'Which deed is the best?' He said: 'Faith in Allah and jihad in His path.' I said: 'Which slaves are the best to free?' He said: 'The most expensive and the most precious to their owners.' I said: 'If I cannot do that?' He said: 'Help someone in need or do something for someone incapable.' I said: 'If I cannot do that?' He said: 'Refrain from harming people, for that is a charity you give to yourself.'
