Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Ja'far] Narrated to us [Syu'bah] from [Aun bin Abu Juhaifah] from [Al Mundzir bin Jarir] from [his father] he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him at the beginning of the day. Then there came a people who were barefoot, almost naked, wearing striped wool garments or long cloaks, carrying swords; most of them were from the tribe of Mudhar, perhaps all of them. Immediately, the face of the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him changed upon seeing the poverty among them. Bilal said, the Messenger of Allah paced back and forth, then he ordered Bilal to call the adhan, which he did, and then the iqamah. He prayed and gave a sermon, then he recited the verse: "O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul..." (QS. An-Nisa: 1) until the end of the verse. Then he recited a verse from Surah Al-Hashr: "Let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow" (QS. Al-Hashr: 18). Jarir said: After he recited that verse, a man gave in charity from his dinars, his dirhams, his clothes, a sa' of his wheat, or a sa' of his dates, until he (the Prophet) said: "Even if it is only with half a date." Jarir said: Then a man from the Ansar came with a bundle that his palm could barely carry, in fact, he truly could not carry it. Then the companions came in succession until I saw two mounds of food and clothes, so that I saw the face of the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him glowing as if it were plated with gold (out of joy). Then the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him said: "Whoever initiates a good practice in Islam, he receives its reward and the reward of whoever follows it after him without their rewards being diminished in the least. And whoever initiates an evil practice, he bears its sin and the sin of whoever follows it without their sins being diminished in the least." (The narrator then repeats a similar chain).
