Imam Bukhari : 115
It was narrated to us by ['Abdul 'Aziz bin 'Abdullah] who said: It was narrated to me by [Malik] from [Ibn Shihab] from [Al-A'raj] from [Abu Hurairah] who said: 'People say Abu Hurairah narrates too many hadiths. Were it not for two verses in the Book of Allah, I would not have narrated a single hadith.' Then he recited: "Indeed, those who conceal what We have sent down of clear proofs and guidance..." until "...the Merciful" (Qur'an 2:159-160). 'Our brothers from the Muhajirin were busy with trade in the markets, and our brothers from the Ansar were busy working their properties. But Abu Hurairah stayed with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a full stomach, attending what they did not and memorizing what they did not.'
