Narrated to me [Mahmud bin Ghailan], narrated to me [Abu Dawud], informed us [Syu'bah] from [Hisyam bin Zaid bin Anas], he said, I heard [Anas] say: 'We found a rabbit in Marru Azh Zhahran, so the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, chased it. Then I saw it, caught it, and brought it to Abu Thalhah, who slaughtered it in Marwa. Then he sent me to deliver its thigh or upper thigh to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he ate it.' Abu Isa said: 'In this matter, there is: From Jabir and Muhammad bin Shafwan, usually called Muhammad bin Shaifi, and this is a hasan sahih hadith. Most scholars consider eating rabbit meat permissible, but some dislike it, saying, Indeed, rabbits bleed."'
