أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُإِنَّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنَ أُثَالٍ الْحَنَفِيَّ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى نَجْلٍ قَرِيبٍ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ فَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ وَاللَّهِ مَا كَانَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَجْهٌ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَجْهِكَ فَقَدْ أَصْبَحَ وَجْهُكَ أَحَبَّ الْوُجُوهِ كُلِّهَا إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّ خَيْلَكَ أَخَذَتْنِي وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَمَاذَا تَرَى فَبَشَّرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَعْتَمِرَ مُخْتَصَرٌ

Narrated to us [Qutaibah] he said :Narrated to us [Al-Laits] from [Sa'id bin Abu Sa'id] that he heard [Abu Hurairah] say; "Tsumamah bin Utsal Al Hanafi went to the flowing water near the mosque to bathe, then entered the mosque and said "I testify that there is no god to be worshiped except Allah, he has no partner and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. O Muhammad! By Allah, on this earth, there was no face that I hated the most but your face, and now your face is the face that I love the most. Your horse will carry me and I want to perform Umrah. What do you think?" Rasulullah peace be upon him gave him good news and told him to go on Umrah."-That's the story in brief-
