حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا هَلْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ شَهْرًا مَعْلُومًا سِوَى رَمَضَانَ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ إِنْ صَامَ شَهْرًا مَعْلُومًا سِوَى رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى مَضَى لِوَجْهِهِ وَلَا أَفْطَرَهُ حَتَّى يُصِيبَ مِنْهُ

Narrated to us by Yahya bin Yahya, informed us by Yazid bin Zurai' from Sa'id Al-Jurairi from Abdullah bin Shaqiq, he said, I asked Aishah, 'Did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ever fast a full month openly besides Ramadan?' Aishah replied, 'By Allah, he never fasted a full month openly besides Ramadan until he was raised to the Highest Companion (high position), and he also never broke the fast continuously (meaning not fasting) a full month outside Ramadan, until there were some in which he filled with fasting.'
