Narrated to us [Isma'il bin Mas'ud] he said :Narrated to us [Khalid] he said :Narrated to us [Sa'id] from [Qatadah] from [Yunus bin Jubair] from [Hiththan bin 'Abdullah] that he heard [Abu Musa] say; "Indeed, the Prophet of Allah, sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam, once preached before us, he explained the sunnah and taught us how to pray, he said: 'When you pray then straighten your rows. Let one of you be the imam. If the imam says takbir then you make takbir and when the imam says, "Ghairil maghdluubi 'alahim waladl-dlaalliin (Not those who are angry and not those who astray)" then you should say, "Aamiin (may Allah grant you) Allah will surely grant you". If the imam makes takbir and bows, then make takbir and bow, verily the imam bows and lifts his head from bowing before you'. Then the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam said: 'You should follow the movements of the imam afterwards'. And if he lifts his head from bowing with say, "Sami'allaahu It man lamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him) "then say, "Allahumma rabbanaa wa lakal hamdu (O our Rabb, to You is all praise)" surely Allah will hear you. Verily, Allah said through the words of His Prophet, "Sami'alladhu liman hamidah". If the imam makes his takbir and prostrates then follow him in his takbir and prostrations, verily the imam makes his takbir and prostrates before you'. Then Rasulullau sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam said: -'You should follow the imam's movements afterwards - and if he sits down then the first thing one of you says is - a prayer which means -: "Good greetings and prayers to Allah, may safety, mercy and blessings remain with you, O Prophet. May safety also be with the righteous servants of Allah. I testify that there is no Being worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is His servant and messenger" - these are the seven sentences as tahiyyat prayer."
