حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ الْفَزَارِيِّ قَال سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُإِنِّي كُنْتُ رَجُلًا إِذَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا نَفَعَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِمَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَنْفَعَنِي بِهِ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ اسْتَحْلَفْتُهُ فَإِذَا حَلَفَ لِي صَدَّقْتُهُ وَإِنَّهُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَصَدَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْبًا ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَتَطَهَّرُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ إِلَّا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ{ وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لِذُنُوبِهِمْ }إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِقَالَ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ وَأَنَسٍ وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ وَمُعَاذٍ وَوَاثِلَةَ وَأَبِي الْيَسَرِ وَاسْمُهُ كَعْبُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَلِيٍّ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَرَوَى عَنْهُ شُعْبَةُ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ فَرَفَعُوهُ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ وَرَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَمِسْعَرٌ فَأَوْقَفَاهُ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعَاهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مَرْفُوعًا أَيْضًا وَلَا نَعْرِفُ لِأَسْمَاءَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ حَدِيثًا مَرْفُوعًا إِلَّا هَذَا

Narrated to us [Qutaibah], he said: narrated to us [Abu Awanah] from [Utsman bin Al Mughirah] from [Ali bin Rabi'ah] from [Asma` bin Al Hakam Al Fazari], he said: "I heard [Ali] say: 'Indeed I am a man who if I hear a hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then with it Allah benefits me as He wills to benefit me. And if one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah narrates a hadith to me, then I ask him to swear, if he swears then I believe him. [Abu Bakar] -he is a truthful person- once narrated to me, he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'There is no man who commits a sin, then stands, purifies himself, and prays, then asks forgiveness from Allah except that Allah will forgive him.'" Then he recited this verse: (And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins) until the end of the verse." He said: "In this chapter there is also a narration from Ibnu Mas'ud, Abu Darda`, Anas, Abu Umamah, Mu'adz, and Watsilah. Abu Al Yasar's name is Ka'ab bin Amru." Abu Isa said: "The hadith of Ali is hasan, and we know it from this chain only from the hadith of Utsman bin Al Mughirah. [Syu'bah] and others narrated this hadith from [Utsman bin Al Mughrah], then they marfu' it as in the hadith of Abu Awanah. [Sufyan Ats Tsauri] and [Mis'ar] also narrated it, but both narrated it only as mauquf and did not marfu' it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. And this hadith has also been narrated from Mis'ar as marfu', and we do not know Asma` bin Al Hakam having a marfu' hadith except this one."
