أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُجْمِرِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الَّذِي أُرِيَ النِّدَاءَ بِالصَّلَاةِ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَجْلِسِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَشِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ أَمَرَنَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّ عَلَيْكَ فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْنَا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ قُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ وَالسَّلَامُ كَمَا عَلِمْتُمْ

Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Salamah] and [Al Harith bin Miskin] in reading and I heard, this lafadz from him, from [Ibnul Qasim] he said : has told me [Malik] from [Nu'aim bin 'Abdullah Al Mujmir] that [Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Zaid Al Ansari] and 'Abdullah bin Zaid when the call to prayer was sounded, reported to him from [Abu Mas'ud Al Anshari] he said : "The Messenger of Allah Shalallah 'Alaihi Wa Sallam came to us in the assembly of Sa'd bin Ubadah, then Basyir bin Sa'ad said to him; 'Allah the Mighty and Majestic ordered us to pray to you, O Rasulullah Shalallah 'Alaihi Wa Sallam. So how do we pray to you?" Rasulullah Shalallah 'Alaihi Wa Sallam was silent until we wished he had not asked him earlier. Then he sallallaallahu'alaihi wasallam said: 'Say, "ALLAHUMMA SHALLI 'ALA MUHAMMADIN WA'ALAA AALII MUHAMMAD, KAMAA SHALLAITA 'ALAA IBRAHIM. WABAARIK 'ALAA MUHAMMAD WA'ALAA AALI MUHAMMAD, KAMAA BARAKTA 'ALAA IBRAHIM FIL 'ALAMIINA INNAKA HAMIDUM-MAJIID (O Allah, shower prosperity on Muhammad and Muhammad's family as You showered on Ibrahim's family. O Allah, pour out greetings on Muhammad and Muhammad's family, as You poured out greetings on Ibrahim's family. Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious).
