Narrated to us [Hannad], he said: narrated to us [Abdah] – that is Ibnu Sulaiman – from [Muhammad bin Ishaq] from ['Ashim bin Umar bin Qatadah] from [Mahmud bin Labid] from [Rafi' bin Khadij], he said: "I heard The Messenger of Allah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam say: 'Pray Subuh when the light has spread, for it brings greater reward.'" He said: "[Syu'bah] and [Ats Tsauri] narrated this hadith from [Muhammad bin Ishaq]." He said: "This hadith was also narrated by [Muhammad bin 'Ajlan] from ['Ashim bin Umar bin Qatadah]." He said: "In this chapter there are also narrations from Abu Barzah Al Aslami, Jabir and Bilal." Abu Isa said: "The hadith of Rafi' bin Khadij is hasan sahih. More than one scholar among the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Tabi'in held the view that Subuh should be prayed when the day has brightened. Sufyan Ats Tsauri held this view. Syafi'i, Ahmad and Ishaq said that the meaning of isfar is when the dawn has become bright. There is no doubt that they did not mean delaying the prayer."
