Narrated to us[Abu 'Ashim Khusyaysh bin Ashram], from ['Abdurrazzaq] who informed us [Ma'mar] from [Az-Zuhri] from [Salim] from [Ibn 'Umar], who said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) and some Companions, including 'Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, passed by Ibn Sayyad while he was playing with children on a high building of Bani Maghalah. Ibn Sayyad was a boy then. He was unaware of the Messenger of Allah's (peace be upon him) arrival until he tapped his shoulder with his hand and asked: 'Do you testify that I am Allah's Messenger?' Ibn Sayyad looked at him and replied: 'I testify you are Allah's Messenger who is illiterate.' Then Ibn Sayyad said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'Do you testify I am Allah's Messenger?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: 'I believe in Allah and His messengers.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: 'What hidden news do you bring?' Ibn Sayyad replied: 'True and false news has come to me.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Your matter is confusing (mixed truth and falsehood).' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'I have concealed something from you'—he concealed: '(Wait then, when the sky brings a clear smoke)'—Ibn Sayyad said: "Cloud." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "No! You will not precede your fate." Then 'Umar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, allow me to cut his neck!' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'If he is Dajjal, you have no power over him. If not, there is no benefit in killing him.'"
