حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍأَنَّ رَجُلًا ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي قَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ دَعَوْتُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ صَبَرْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ قَالَ فَادْعُهْ قَالَ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيُحْسِنَ وُضُوءَهُ وَيَدْعُوَ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إِلَى رَبِّي فِي حَاجَتِي هَذِهِ لِتُقْضَى لِيَ اللَّهُمَّ فَشَفِّعْهُ فِيَّقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَهُوَ الْخَطْمِيُّ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ هُوَ أَخُو سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ

Narrated to us [Mahmud bin Ghailan], narrated to us [Utsman bin Umar], narrated to us [Syu'bah] from [Abu Ja'far] from ['Umarah bin Khuzaimah bin Tsabit] from [Utsman bin Hunaif] that a man blind in his eyes came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Supplicate to Allah to cure me." he said: "if you wish I will supplicate for you, and if you wish be patient, for that is better for you." the man said: "supplicate (to Allah for me)." Utsman bin Hunaif said: "Then he ordered him to perform wudhu, then he performed wudhu well and supplicated with this supplication, "O Allah! I ask You, turning to You with (intercession) Your prophet Muhammad, the prophet of mercy." (the man said) "I have asked your intercession to my Lord to fulfill my need." (He said): "O Allah! Accept his intercession for me." Abu Isa said: "This hadith is hasan sahih gharib, we do not know it except from this path, namely from the hadith of Abu Ja'far Al Khathmi, while Utsman bin Hunaif is the brother of Sahl bin Hunaif."
