حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُمُورًا كُنَّا نَصْنَعُهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كُنَّا نَأْتِي الْكُهَّانَ قَالَ فَلَا تَأْتُوا الْكُهَّانَ قَالَ قُلْتُ كُنَّا نَتَطَيَّرُ قَالَ ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي نَفْسِهِ فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمْ و حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنِي حُجَيْنٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ح و حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ غَيْرَ أَنَّ مَالِكًا فِي حَدِيثِهِ ذَكَرَ الطِّيَرَةَ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ ذِكْرُ الْكُهَّانِ و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ ح و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ قَالَ كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنْ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ فَذَاكَ

Narrated to me [Abu Ath Thahir] and [Harmalah bin Yahya], both said: Informed us [Ibnu Wahb] Informed me [Yunus] from [Ibnu Syihab] from [Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf] from [Mu'awiyah bin Al Hakam As Sulami], he said: 'I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him: "O Messenger of Allah! There are things we did in the time of ignorance, including visiting soothsayers. What about that?" He replied: "No! Do not visit soothsayers anymore." I asked again: "We also believed in bird sounds as good or bad omens." The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, replied: "That is merely a notion. Do not let it hinder your affairs." Narrated to me [Muhammad bin Rafi'] Narrated to us [Hujain], namely Ibnu Al Mutsanna Narrated to us [Al Laits] from ['Uqail] likewise narrated through other chains. Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] and ['Abad bin Humaid], both said: Informed us ['Abdur Razaq] Informed us [Ma'mar] likewise narrated through other chains. Narrated to us [Abu Bakr bin Abu Syaibah] Narrated to us [Syababah bin Sawwar] Narrated to us [Ibnu Abu Dzi'b] likewise narrated through other chains. Narrated to me [Muhammad bin Rafi'] Informed us [Ishaq bin 'Isa] Informed us [Malik], all from [Az Zuhri] through this chain, similar to Yunus’s hadith. Except Malik mentioned bird omens in his hadith and not soothsayers. Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Ash Shabbah] and [Abu Bakr bin Abu Syaibah], both said: Narrated to us [Isma'il], namely Ibnu 'Ulayyah, from [Hajjaj Ash Shawwaf] likewise narrated through other chains. Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] Informed us ['Isa bin Yunus] Narrated to us [Al Auza'i], both from [Yahya bin Abu Katsir] from [Hilal bin Abu Maimunah] from ['Atha bin Yasar] from [Mu'awiyah bin Al Hakam As Sulami] from the Prophet, peace be upon him, similar to the hadith of Az Zuhri from Abu Salamah from Mu'awiyah. In Yahya bin Abu Katsir’s hadith, he added: Some among us used to draw lines to know things. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: 'There was a prophet who drew lines whoever’s lines match his, that is true.'
