Narrated to us 'Abdullah ibn Yusuf, narrated to us Malik, from Zaid ibn Aslam, from Ibrahim ibn 'Abdullah ibn Hunain, from his father, that 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas and Al-Miswar ibn Makhramah differed at Al-Abwa'. 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas said: A person in ihram washes his head. Al-Miswar said: A person in ihram does not wash his head. So 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas sent me to Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari. I found him bathing between two poles, covered by a cloth. I greeted him, and he said: 'Who is this?' I said: 'I am 'Abdullah ibn Hunain, sent by 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas to ask how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his head while in ihram.' Abu Ayyub placed his hand on the cloth, lowering it until his head was visible, then Sa'dto someone pouring water: 'Pour.' He poured water on his head, then he moved his head with both hands, forward and backward, and said: 'This is how I saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) do it.'
