و حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ فَرَضَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ الْحَجَّ فَحُجُّوا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَكُلَّ عَامٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَوَجَبَتْ وَلَمَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ فَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَدَعُوهُ

And narrated to me [Zuhair bin Harb], narrated to us [Yazid bin Harun], informed us [Ar Rabi' bin Muslim Al Qarasyi] from [Muhammad bin Ziyad] from [Abu Hurairah], he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon to us and said, 'O people, Allah has made Hajj obligatory upon you, so perform Hajj.' Then a man asked, 'Is it every year, O Messenger of Allah?' He remained silent for a while until the man repeated it three times. Then he said, 'If I said "Yes," it would become obligatory every year, and you would not be able to fulfill it. Therefore, leave matters as I have left them for you. Indeed, those before you were ruined because they asked too many questions and disputed with their Prophets. So, if I command you to do something, do it to the best of your ability, and if I forbid you from something, stop immediately.'
