حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَادُ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ أُدْنِيَتْ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ الْعِبَادِ حَتَّى تَكُونَ قِيدَ مِيلٍ أَوْ اثْنَيْنِ قَالَ سُلَيْمٌ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ الْمِيلَيْنِ عَنَى أَمَسَافَةُ الْأَرْضِ أَمْ الْمِيلُ الَّذِي تُكْتَحَلُ بِهِ الْعَيْنُ قَالَ فَتَصْهَرُهُمْ الشَّمْسُ فَيَكُونُونَ فِي الْعَرَقِ بِقَدْرِ أَعْمَالِهِمْ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَأْخُذُهُ إِلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَأْخُذُهُ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَأْخُذُهُ إِلَى حِقْوَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يُلْجِمُهُ إِلْجَامًا فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى فِيهِ أَيْ يُلْجِمُهُ إِلْجَامًاقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ

Narrated to us [Suwaid bin Nasr] has told us [Ibn Al Mubarak] has told us [Abdurrahman bin Yazid bin Jabir] has told me [Sulaim bin 'Amir] has told us [Al Miqdad] a friend of Rasulullah sallAllahu 'alahi wa Salam, said: I heard Rasulullahpeace be upon him say: "On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will be brought near to humans to a limit of one or two miles - said Sulam: I don't know whether two miles means the distance of the earth or miles that are used to measure the eyes - then the sun melted them, then they were in the sweat according to their deeds, among them there were those who sweated up to their heels, there were those who sweated up to their knees, there were those who sweated up to their waists and there were those who were completely drowned in sweat." I saw the Messenger of Allah sallAllahu 'alahi wa Salam showing his hand to his mouth, meaning he was really drowning. Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih and in this case there are similar hadiths from Abu Sa'id and Ibn Umar.
