حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَمْرَةُ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْلَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَتْلُ ابْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَجَعْفَرٍ وَابْنِ رَوَاحَةَ جَلَسَ يُعْرَفُ فِيهِ الْحُزْنُ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ مِنْ صَائِرِ الْبَابِ شَقِّ الْبَابِ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ نِسَاءَ جَعْفَرٍ وَذَكَرَ بُكَاءَهُنَّ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْهَاهُنَّ فَذَهَبَ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّانِيَةَ لَمْ يُطِعْنَهُ فَقَالَ انْهَهُنَّ فَأَتَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ غَلَبْنَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَاحْثُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِنَّ التُّرَابَ فَقُلْتُ أَرْغَمَ اللَّهُ أَنْفَكَ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ مَا أَمَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ تَتْرُكْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْعَنَاءِ

Narrated by Muhammad bin Al-Mutsanna, narrated by Abdul Wahhab, he Sa'd I heard Yahya say, Amrah informed me, she said: I heard Aisyah (may Allah be pleased with her) say: When the news of the deaths of Ibn Harithah, Ja?far, and Ibn Rawahah reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he sat, visibly grieved, while I looked through the door?s crack. A man came and said: 'Ja?far?s women,' mentioning their weeping. He ordered him to stop them. The man went, then returned, saying they did not obey. He ordered him again to stop them. The man went and returned, saying: 'By Allah, they have overcome us, O Messenger of Allah.' She thought he said: 'Stuff their mouths with dust.' I said: 'May Allah disgrace you; you did not do what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded, nor did you relieve him from his distress.'
