Narrated to us 'Abdul 'Aziz bin 'Abdullah, narrated to me Yusuf bin Al-Majishun, from Salih bin Ibrahim bin 'Abdurrahman bin 'Auf, from his father, from his grandfather 'Abdurrahman bin 'Auf (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I wrote to Umayyah bin Khalaf that he should protect me in my affairs in Mecca, and I would protect him in his affairs in Medina. When I mentioned Ar-Rahman, he Sa'd 'I do not know Ar-Rahman. Write to me with your name from the time of ignorance.' So I wrote to him as 'Abd 'Amr. On the day of Badr, I went to a mountain to protect him while people slept. Bilal saw him and went to a gathering of the Ansar, saying, 'Umayyah bin Khalaf! I will not be safe if Umayyah is safe.' A group of the Ansar followed us. When I feared they would catch us, I left his son to occupy them, but they killed him. They refused to stop until they followed us. He was a heavy man, and when they caught up to us, I Sa'dto him, 'Kneel.' He knelt, and I threw myself over him to protect him, but they pierced him with swords from beneath me until they killed him, and one of them struck my foot with his sword. 'Abdurrahman bin 'Auf showed us that mark on the back of his foot. Abu 'Abdullah Sa'd Yusuf heard Salih, and Ibrahim his father.
