حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ التُّجِيبِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا بِمَدِينَةِ الرُّومِ فَأَخْرَجُوا إِلَيْنَا صَفًّا عَظِيمًا مِنْ الرُّومِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِثْلُهُمْ أَوْ أَكْثَرُ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ مِصْرَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ وَعَلَى الْجَمَاعَةِ فَضَالَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فَحَمَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَلَى صَفِّ الرُّومِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ فِيهِمْ فَصَاحَ النَّاسُ وَقَالُوا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يُلْقِي بِيَدَيْهِ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ فَقَامَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ تَتَأَوَّلُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ هَذَا التَّأْوِيلَ وَإِنَّمَا أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فِينَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ لَمَّا أَعَزَّ اللَّهُ الْإِسْلَامَ وَكَثُرَ نَاصِرُوهُ فَقَالَ بَعْضُنَا لِبَعْضٍ سِرًّا دُونَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَمْوَالَنَا قَدْ ضَاعَتْ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَعَزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ وَكَثُرَ نَاصِرُوهُ فَلَوْ أَقَمْنَا فِي أَمْوَالِنَا فَأَصْلَحْنَا مَا ضَاعَ مِنْهَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرُدُّ عَلَيْنَا مَا قُلْنَا { وَأَنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ } فَكَانَتْ التَّهْلُكَةُ الْإِقَامَةَ عَلَى الْأَمْوَالِ وَإِصْلَاحِهَا وَتَرْكَنَا الْغَزْوَ فَمَا زَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ شَاخِصًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى دُفِنَ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ

Narrated to us ['Abd bin Humaid] has told us [Adl Dlahhaq bin Mujalid] from [Haiwah bin Syuraih] from [Yazid bin Abu Habib] from [Aslam Abu Imran At Tujibi] he said : "When we were in the Roman city, the Romans sent out an army with a very large number of ranks to face us, so some of the Muslims came out to fight them as many as their number or more, the people from Egypt were led by 'Uqbah bin Amir, while all the troops were led by Fadlalah bin 'Ubaid, then a man from the Muslims came out, and broke into the ranks of the Romans, but the people shouted and said: "Subhanallah, he has thrown himself into destruction." So [Abu Ayyub Al Ansari] arose and said: "O people, indeed you have interpreted this verse like this, only this verse was revealed to us the Ansar, when Allah glorified us with Islam and its many helpers, then some of us whispered to others without the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him knowing, namely; "Indeed, our wealth has been lost and indeed Allah has glorified Islam and its many helpers, what if we take care of our wealth and repair what was lost," then Allah revealed a verse to His Prophet peace be upon him in response to what we have said: "And spend (your possessions) in the way of Allah, and do not throw yourselves into destruction." QS Al-Baqarah: 195. At Tahlukah in this verse means Al Iqamah (settling) to take care of property matters and fix them, then we leave the war." Abu Ayyub continued to move forward in jihad in the way of Allah until he was buried in the Roman world." Abu Isa said : This hadith is hasan shahih gharib.
