"It has been narrated to us by [Abu Al-Yaman], who reported to us from [Syu'aib], who narrated to us from [Abu Az-Zanad], from [Al-A'raj], from [Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him], who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the payment of zakat (charity). It was then mentioned to him that Ibn Jamil, Khalid bin Al Walid, and 'Abbas bin 'Abdul Muthalib refused to pay zakat. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What can prevent Ibnul Jamil from paying his zakat, since he was once poor but Allah and His Messenger made him wealthy? As for Khalid, you have wronged Khalid, for he has spent his armor and weapons in the cause of Allah. As for 'Abbas bin 'Abdul Muthalib, he is the uncle of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, but he is still obligated to pay zakat and other obligations similar to zakat (as an honor)." And this hadith is supported by [Ibn Abu Az Zinad] from [his father], and [Ibn Ishaq] Sa'dfrom [Abu Az Zinad]; ?He is still obligated to pay zakat and other obligations similar to zakat,? and [Ibn Juraij] said; ?It has been narrated to me from Al-A'raj with a similar hadith.?
