Narrated to us [Mush'ab bin Sallaam] Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Suqah] I heard [Abu Ja'far] say, it was Ibn Umar that when he heard something from the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam or attended an event with him, he never subtracted or added to what was appropriate. [Ibn Umar] said, So when he was sitting and Ubaid bin Umair was telling an incident to the people of Makkah, Ubaid bin Umair said, "The parable of a hypocrite is like a sheep between two goats - with the ghanamaini editor -, if he comes to this goat he will horn it, and when he comes to that goat he will horn it too." Then Abdullah Ibn Umar said, "Not like this." Ubaid bin Umair was angry. Coincidentally, Abdullah bin Shafwan was in the assembly, so he said, "O Abu Abdurrahman, how did he say? May Allah have mercy on you." then (Ibn Umar) said, He said: "The parable of a hypocrite is like a goat that is between Ar-Rabidloin (two goats that are roaring) - Ibnu Umar revised the word ghanamaini to rabidhaini - if he goes to one goat he is gored and if he goes to the other goat he will also be gored." So (Abdullah bin Shafwan) said to him, "May Allah have mercy on you, both have one meaning." He (Ibnu Umar) said, "Sorry, I only heard the editorial.
