حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَال سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَقَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَوُلِدْتُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفِيلِ وَسَأَلَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ قُبَاثَ بْنَ أَشْيَمَ أَخَا بَنِي يَعْمَرَ بْنِ لَيْثٍ أَأَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ أَمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي وَأَنَا أَقْدَمُ مِنْهُ فِي الْمِيلَادِ وُلِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْفِيلِ وَرَفَعَتْ بِي أُمِّي عَلَى الْمَوْضِعِ قَالَ وَرَأَيْتُ خَذْقَ الطَّيْرِ أَخْضَرَ مُحِيلًاقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَقَ

Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Basyar Al Abdi], narrated to us [Wahb bin Jarir], narrated to us [my father], he said: I heard [Muhammad bin Ishaq] narrate from [Al Mutthalib bin Abdullah bin Qais bin Makhramah] from [his father] from [his grandfather], he said: "I and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, were born in the year of the elephant." Then Utsman bin 'Affan asked [Qubats bin Asyyam] -brother of bani Ya'mar bin Laits- "Are you older or the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" he answered: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is more mature in everything than me even though in age I was born before him, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was born in the year of the elephant, while my mother gave birth to me at that time also." he said: "(At that time) I also saw bird droppings had turned green." Abu Isa said: "This hadith is hasan gharib, we do not know (that hadith) except from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq."
