أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمِ بْنُ دِينَارٍأَنَّ رِجَالًا أَتَوْا سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ وَقَدْ امْتَرَوْا فِي الْمِنْبَرِ مِمَّ عُودُهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ مِمَّ هُوَ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ وُضِعَ وَأَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ جَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى فُلَانَةَ امْرَأَةٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهَا سَهْلٌ أَنْ مُرِي غُلَامَكِ النَّجَّارَ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ لِي أَعْوَادًا أَجْلِسُ عَلَيْهِنَّ إِذَا كَلَّمْتُ النَّاسَ فَأَمَرَتْهُ فَعَمِلَهَا مِنْ طَرْفَاءِ الْغَابَةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِهَا فَأُرْسِلَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَوُضِعَتْ هَا هُنَا ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَقِيَ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَكَبَّرَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ نَزَلَ الْقَهْقَرَى فَسَجَدَ فِي أَصْلِ الْمِنْبَرِ ثُمَّ عَادَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا صَنَعْتُ هَذَا لِتَأْتَمُّوا بِي وَلِتَعَلَّمُوا صَلَاتِي

Narrated to us [Qutaibah] he said :Narrated to us [Ya'qub bin 'Abdurrahman] he said : has told me [Abu Hazim bin Dinar] that some men came to Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi and they argued about the wood used to make the pulpit; They asked about it. [Sahal bin Sa'ad] said, "By Allah, I know the type of wood used to make the pulpit. I once saw it on the day it was made and on the first day Rasulullah Sallallahu'alaihi wasallam sat on it. Rasulullah Sallallahu'alaihi wasallam once sent someone to Fulanah - the woman whose name was mentioned by Sahal - and said to her, 'Tell your slave the carpenter to make wood for my seat when I am talking to the people'. Then the woman told him to make it from forest wood. Then this person took him to the pulpit and he prayed on the pulpit and then bowed down. Then he stepped back, then prostrated himself at the base of the pulpit, and returned again. After finishing the prayer he faced to the people and said, 'O people, I did this so that you would follow me and learn my prayer.'"
