Narrated to us[Muhammad bin Kathir], from [Sufyan] from ['Ashim bin 'Ubaydullah] from ['Ubayd], the freed slave of Abu Ruhm, from [Abu Hurayrah], who said: "He met a woman and smelled fragrance from her, and the end of her garment was trailing (sweeping the ground). He said: 'O slave of Al-Jabbar, have you come from the mosque?' The woman replied: 'Yes.' Abu Hurayrah asked: 'Did you apply perfume for the mosque?' The woman replied: 'Yes.' Abu Hurayrah said: 'I heard my beloved, Abu Al-Qasim (peace be upon him), say: "The prayer of a woman who applies perfume to go to this mosque will not be accepted until she returns and bathes as she bathes from janabah."'" Abu Dawud said: "Al-'ishar means dust."
