Umar bin khatthab shalat malam dalam jumlah yang banyak, hingga ketika menjelang akhir malam dia membangunkan keluarganya untuk shalat
Imam Malik : 241و حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِك عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِكَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنْ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ أَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ يَقُولُ لَهُمْ الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ ثُمَّ يَتْلُو هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ{ وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا لَا نَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقًا نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَى }
It has been told to me from Malik from [Zaid bin Aslam] from [his father] that [Umar bin Khatthab] prayed in large numbers at night, until when the end of the night approached he woke up his family to pray. He said to them; "ASHSHALAAH ASHSHALAAH (pray you, pray you)." After that he read the verse; '(And order your family to pray and be patient in doing it. We do not ask you for sustenance, we are the ones who give you sustenance. and the (good) consequences are for those who are pious)' (Qs. Thaahaa: 132).
