أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ أَخِي أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَكُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا يَعْنِي وَرَجُلٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ وَتَشَهَّدَ دَعَا فَقَالَ فِي دُعَائِهِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ تَدْرُونَ بِمَا دَعَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ دَعَا اللَّهَ بِاسْمِهِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى

Narrated to us [Qutaibah] he said :Narrated to us [Khalaf bin Khalifah] from [Hafsh] Anas' nephew, from [Anas bin Malik] he said : "I once sat with Rasulullah Shalallah 'Alaihi Wa Sallam, and there was a man who was praying. After bowing down, prostrating and tasyahud he then prayed. He said his prayer by saying: 'O Allah, I ask You with all praise for You, there is no One who has the right to be worshiped except You, the One who is the most generous and the creator of the heavens and the earth. O the One who is the owner of majesty and glory. O Being Who is All Living, All Alone, I ask You." Then the Prophet peace be upon him said to his companions: 'Do you know what he said his prayer with? ' They answered, 'Allah and His Messenger know better'. Then he said: "By the One in Whose Hands my soul is, he prayed to Allah using His great name. If anyone prays with that name, Allah grants and if anyone asks for something with that name, He gives."
