حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ سُمَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا قَالَ الْإِمَامُ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ وَافَقَ قَوْلُهُ قَوْلَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ أَنْ يَقُولَ الْإِمَامُ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَيَقُولَ مَنْ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَبِهِ يَقُولُ أَحْمَدُ و قَالَ ابْنُ سِيرِينَ وَغَيْرُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ الْإِمَامُ وَبِهِ يَقُولُ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَإِسْحَقُ

Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Musa Al Ashari], he said: narrated to us [Ma'n], he said: narrated to us [Malik] from [Sumai] from [Abu Shalih] from [Abu Hurairah], he said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'If the imam says: "SAMI'AALLAHU LIMAN HAMIDAH (Allah hears those who praise Him)," then say: "RABBANA WA LAKAL HAMDU (Our Lord, to You is all praise)." For whoever's utterance coincides with the angels', his past sins will be forgiven.'" Abu Isa said: "This hadith is hasan sahih. This hadith is acted upon by some scholars from the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and those after them. That is, the recommendation for the imam to say: "SAMI'AALLAHU LIMAN HAMIDAH RABBANA WA LAKAL HAMDU (Allah hears those who praise Him. Our Lord, to You is all praise)." Then those behind the imam (followers) say: "RABBANA WA LAKAL HAMDU (Our Lord, to You is all praise)." This opinion is also taken by Imam Ahmad. Ibnu Sirin and others said: 'The follower should say: "SAMI'AALLAHU LIMAN HAMIDAH RABBANA WA LAKAL HAMDU (Allah hears those who praise Him. Our Lord, to You is all praise)" as said by the imam.' This opinion is also taken by Syafi'i and Ishaq.
