حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ النَّزَّالِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ خَلِيًّا قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ بَخٍ لَقَدْ سَأَلْتَ عَنْ عَظِيمٍ وَهُوَ يَسِيرٌ عَلَى مَنْ يَسَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ تُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ وَتُؤَدِّي الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ وَتَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى رَأْسِ الْأَمْرِ وَعَمُودِهِ وَذُرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ أَمَّا رَأْسُ الْأَمْرِ فَالْإِسْلَامُ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ سَلِمَ وَأَمَّا عَمُودُهُ فَالصَّلَاةُ وَأَمَّا ذُرْوَةُ سَنَامِهِ فَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ الْخَيْرِ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَالصَّدَقَةُ وَقِيَامُ الْعَبْدِ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ يُكَفِّرُ الْخَطَايَا وَتَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ { تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنْ الْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ } أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَمْلَكِ ذَلِكَ لَكَ كُلِّهِ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ نَفَرٌ قَالَ فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ يَشْغَلُوا عَنِّي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ كَلِمَةً نَحْوَهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَوْلُكَ أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَمْلَكِ ذَلِكَ لَكَ كُلِّهِ قَالَ فَأَشَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى لِسَانِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّا لَنُؤَاخَذُ بِمَا نَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ قَالَ ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ مُعَاذُ وَهَلْ يَكُبُّ النَّاسَ عَلَى مَنَاخِرِهِمْ إِلَّا حَصَائِدُ أَلْسِنَتِهِمْ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قَالَ لِي الْحَكَمُ وَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ مَيْمُونُ بْنُ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ و قَالَ الْحَكَمُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ مُنْذُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً

Narrated to us 'Abdullah has told me about my father. Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Ja'far] Narrated to us [Syu'bah] from [Al Hakam] saying; I heard ['Urwah bin An Nazzal] tell a story from [Mu'adz bin Jabal] saying; We returned from the Tabuk war with the Prophet Peace be upon him when we had free time, I asked; O Messenger of Allah! Tell me a deed that can get me into heaven. The Prophet Peace be upon him said: "Good, you ask something great and it is easy for those who are given ease by Allah; you perform the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, meet Allah 'the Mighty and Majestic in a state of not associating partners with Him with anything. Shall I show you the principal, pillar and peak of the case, Islam. The principal of the matter is Islam. Therefore whoever accepts Islam means he is safe. While the pillar is prayer and the peak is jihad in the way of Allah. Shall I show you the doors of goodness; fasting is a shield, get up in the middle the night can erase mistakes." Then Rasulullah Peace be upon him read the verse, "Their stomachs are far from bed, they call on their Rabb with fear and hope and they give us our sustenance for them." The Prophet Peace be upon him said: "Shall I show you the most useful of them all?" he said: Then some people came and I was worried that they paid more attention to me than Rasulullah Peace be upon him. He asked; Classes, words or the like? Rasulullah Peace be upon him then pointed to his mouth. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Will we be punished for our words? The Prophet Peace be upon him said: "Woe to your mother Mu'adz, no human being is held face down over their noses except because of the products of their tongues." Saying [Shu'bah]; [Al Hakam] said to me; has told me [Maimun bin Abu Syabib]. Said Al Hakam; I heard it from Maimun forty years ago.
