حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ وَبِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي ثِفَالٍ الْمُرِّيِّ عَنْ رَبَاحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حُوَيْطِبٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا قَالَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا وُضُوءَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِقَالَ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ وَأَنَسٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ لَا أَعْلَمُ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ حَدِيثًا لَهُ إِسْنَادٌ جَيِّدٌ و قَالَ إِسْحَقُ إِنْ تَرَكَ التَّسْمِيَةَ عَامِدًا أَعَادَ الْوُضُوءَ وَإِنْ كَانَ نَاسِيًا أَوْ مُتَأَوِّلًا أَجْزَأَهُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ أَحْسَنُ شَيْءٍ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ حَدِيثُ رَبَاحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَرَبَاحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا وَأَبُوهَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ وَأَبُو ثِفَالٍ الْمُرِّيُّ اسْمُهُ ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ وَرَبَاحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حُوَيْطِبٍ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فَقَالَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حُوَيْطِبٍ فَنَسَبَهُ إِلَى جَدِّهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ أَبِي ثِفَالٍ الْمُرِّيِّ عَنْ رَبَاحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حُوَيْطِبٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ بِنْتِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهَا عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

Narrated to us [Nashr bin ‘Ali Al-Jahdami] and [Bishr bin Mu‘adh Al-‘Aqadi]: they said: narrated to us [Bishr Ibn Al-Mufaddal] from [‘Abdurrahman bin Harmalah] from [Abu Tsifal Al-Murri] from [Rabah bin ‘Abdurrahman bin Abi Sufyan bin Huwaytib] from his grandmother from her father: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace be upon him, say: "There is no wudu for one who does not mention Allah’s name (upon commencing wudu)." In this chapter there are also narrations from ‘A’ishah, Abu Sa‘id, Abu Hurairah, Sahl bin Sa‘d and Anas. Abu Isa said: "Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal said: ‘I know no hadith in this chapter with a jayyid chain.’ Ishaq said: ‘If he deliberately omits the basmalah, he must repeat his wudu: but if he forgets or misinterprets, his wudu remains valid.’ Muhammad bin Isma‘il said: ‘The best hadith in this chapter is that of Rabah bin ‘Abdurrahman.’" Abu Isa said: "Rabah bin ‘Abdurrahman narrated from his grandmother from her father. Her father’s name is Sa‘id bin Zayd bin ‘Amr bin Nufayl: Abu Tsifal Al-Murri’s name is Thumamah bin Husayn: Rabah bin ‘Abdurrahman’s name is Abu Bakr bin Huwaytib. Some narrate this hadith and say: ‘From Abu Bakr bin Huwaytib,’ attributing it to his grandfather." Narrated to us [Al-Hasan bin ‘Ali Al-Hulwani], he said: narrated to us [Yazid bin Harun] from [Yazid bin ‘Iyad] from [Abu Tsifal Al-Murri] from [Rabah bin ‘Abdurrahman bin Abi Sufyan bin Huwaytib] from his grandmother bint Sa‘id bin Zayd from her father from the Prophet, may Allah’s peace be upon him, with a similar hadith.
