أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ خَلَفٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَكُنْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَكَانَ يَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ إِبْطَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ مَا هَذَا الْوُضُوءُ فَقَالَ لِي يَا بَنِي فَرُّوخَ أَنْتُمْ هَاهُنَا لَوْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّكُمْ هَاهُنَا مَا تَوَضَّأْتُ هَذَا الْوُضُوءَ سَمِعْتُ خَلِيلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ تَبْلُغُ حِلْيَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ حَيْثُ يَبْلُغُ الْوُضُوءُ

Narrated to us [Qutaibah] reported to us from Abu Malik Al-Ashja'i from Abu Hazim, who said, "I was behind Abu Hurayrah while he was performing ablution for prayer. He washed his hands up to his armpits. I asked him, 'O Abu Hurayrah! What is this ablution?' He replied, 'O Bani Farrukh, are you here? If I had known you were here, I would not have performed ablution like this. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'The adornment of a believer's ablution reaches the part of his body that the water of ablution touches.'
